Watch this video…..here are some of the benefits!

The first is that you have an opportunity to listen to Jon Kabat-Zinn, a world renowned mindfulness expert, discuss how mindfulness can be of help in a work environment. He suggests that a personal practice of mindfulness will “tune you up and in” for the workday, just like a member of an orchestra tunes his/her instrument before playing.

Secondly, he discusses the value of mindfulness for creativity, an absolute essential capacity for any individual and/or organization to respond effectively to change.

Thirdly, he outlines the case that mindfulness is a human capacity that can reveal hidden dimensions of potential for knowing ourselves and the world. It enables a person to see the present clearly and objectively, rather than through the lenses of one’s thoughts, opinions, and ideas.

Finally, watch the video to have a first hand experience of the formal practice of mindfulness. It is a first person experience of gaining self knowledge of your mind and being guided by a world renowned expert.

Jon Kabat-Zinn discusses what mindfulness and meditation are really about: presence of heart. This was part of a talk put on by UC Berkeley’s Greater Good Science Center

May

This is an extremely interesting video where Jon Kabat-Zinn is in conversation with Dr. James Doty, Director of Centre for Compassion and Altruism at Standford Univeristy.  Jon Kabat-Zinn talks about how he became interested in the practice of mindfulness and how he came to start the Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction Program.  Throughout the discussion, he weaves his perspective on how compassion is relevant and embedded in the practice of mindfulness. For individuals interested in the application of mindfulness and health care, Kabat-Zinn provides a succinct and stimulating explanation of the relationship and relevance of mindfulness to human health.  I found some of the comments extremely candid.  I would love to hear what you think about it.

June

The first is that you have an opportunity to listen to Jon Kabat-Zinn, a world renowned mindfulness expert, discuss what mindfulness is.  He outlines the concept in way that is powerful, motivating, and it might even encourage you to practice again.

July

This is a Google talk by Dr. Richard Davidson who is a neuroscientist who has conducted ground breaking research on how the brain is impacted by meditation.  He is the founder of the Center for Investigating Healthy Minds at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. The video explains how the brain is transformed through meditation and shows how cognitive and emotional styles can be changed by contemplative practices.

September

This is another terrific short video that helps answer the “what” and “why” of mindfulness.
