A conversation between Jon Kabat-Zinn in the Head of Learning and Organizational Development at Twitter on the application of mindfulness in business. The basic lesson is this….if you practice mindfulness, you will be able to figure it out for yourself.


Here is a short 3 minute video that outlines how to relate to our often negative self image.  By self image, Kabat-Zinn suggests that this is what is created by the stories we tell ourselves.  Mindfulness will help us to see how we get caught by these stories. The suggestion is that we can be the knowing of our experience, and in this case, to be the knowing of the stories we tell ourselves.  Rather than identifying with the story, simply rest in the awareness of the mind’s creation of a self image and consider letting it go.

A powerful way to show LOVE for another is to express empathy.  Expressing empathy can be challenging as it is easily confused with an expression of sympathy.  Watch this 2 minute video for a simple, yet clear and powerful way to distinguish between empathy and sympathy.

Watch Sharon Salzberg, recent author of “Real Happiness at Work” give a google talk.  What I like about it were 3 things:  She outlined the basic structure of meditation including concentration, mindfulness, and compassion.  She also provides a short guided meditation followed by answering some questions from the audience.
