Mindfulness Meditation for Beginners - 4 Classes

Mindfulness for Beginners is a 4 class program with each class 1.5 hours in length. The program is designed to provide a comprehensive introduction to mindfulness through the practices of sitting meditation, lying down meditation, and walking meditation. All levels are welcome and there will be time for questions.

After completing Mindfulness for Beginners, you will be able to:

  • Define mindfulness describe how mindfulness works
  • Name 3 different methods for cultivating mindfulness
  • Explain the secular practice of mindfulness
  • Know how to start a mindfulness practice
  • Explain and experience how mindfulness practice promotes calmness, stability of mind, and relaxation
  • Describe and practice walking meditation
  • Describe and practice sitting meditation using the power of the breath to find stability, compassion, and wisdom

Mindfulness for Beginners is a 6 week program that is designed to develop a capacity for mindfulness. It would appeal to newcomers who are not looking to make the time commitment to complete the Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction program.

The classes are 1.5 hours and you will be learning mindfulness through extensive in class practices without the "at home practice requirement" of the Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction program.
