There is now over 2 decades of published research that indicates the majority of the people who complete the 8 week Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction (MBSR) program report greater ability to cope more effectively with short and long term stressful demands and situations in their lives.
The MBSR program helps participants to take an active role in their health and wellbeing. This is accomplished by getting to know and modifying aspects of ourselves which can have a profound impact on health and wellbeing. For example, attitudes, how we handle thoughts and emotions, our beliefs, and discovering a greater capacity for relaxation.
Many participants say that they are able to deal more effectively with stress, anxiety, anger, fear and depression both in the home and at work.
MBSR also helps participants to change how they relate to themselves so that they feel a lot less judgmental and critical of themselves.
The participants in the MBSR program share a common desire to find a greater sense of control, ease of body and mind, personal balance, insight and happiness in their lives – the keys to greater lasting health and wellbeing.
The Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction Program is an intensive 8 week training to take an active role in the handling of their health and wellbeing. The classes meet weekly for 2.5 hour and there is a 6 hour class usually on the Saturday of the 6th week of the program. Participants are asked to practice mindfulness for 30-45 minutes per day with guided instructional audios. The program is designed to help each person integrate and apply their learning into his/her specific life situation.
