Mindful Self-Compassion (MSC) is an 8-week education and training program designed to cultivate the skill of self-compassion. The program was developed by Kristin Neff, PhD, the pioneering researcher in the field of self-compassion (www.self-compassion.org) and Christopher K. Germer, PhD, a leader in the integration of mindfulness and psychotherapy (www.mindfulselfcompassion.org).
MSC includes 8 weekly sessions of 2.75 hours each, in addition to a 4-hour retreat. Prior to registering, participants should plan to attend the majority of the sessions and plan to start a mindful self-compassion
No previous experience with mindfulness or meditation is required to attend MSC. To insure safety, participants are asked to provide background information when they register for the program.

Doug's Mindful Self-Compassion course, by some happenstance, came along in my life after I experienced a major loss and was needing skills to cope. Having previously taken Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction, I knew Doug would make me feel safe in the group with my grief. I also felt confident I'd learn new Mindfulness skills to cope. Half-way through the course I've come to approach myself in a gentler way. The resources I have learned and am practicing are helping me to get through the days.
