Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) is an 8-week education and training program designed to cultivate a capacity for mindfulness to cope more effectively with short and long-term stressful challenges. The program was developed by Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn at the Center for Mindfulness in 1979.
MBSR includes 8 weekly sessions of 2.5 hours each, in addition to a 6-hour retreat.
Prior to registering, participants should plan to attend every session and practice mindfulness at least 30 minutes per day through out the program. However, it is quite normal to have to miss one or two classes.
There is a 2.5 hour Orientation to the MBSR program that each person is asked to attend. There is no charge for this session. Please register for one of the orientations under the MBSR orientation category.
No previous experience with mindfulness or meditation is required to attend MBSR.
All participants are asked to attend a free, 2.5 hour orientation to the MBSR program. The purpose of this program is to help ensure that the MBSR program is a good fit for your needs.
Some scholarships available depending upon financial need
